|Sam receiving an award for Boxing|
Boxing Camp had an incredible effect on my life. No other week could have taught me more about perseverance than the week of boxing camp. The first day was definitely the hardest. We went through a series of workouts that demanded each person push themselves beyond their limits. It was on that day when we were all so tired from the workouts that we could barely lift ourselves when Bro. Dan Martin (my coach) said, “Come on boys! We have only been working out for 36 minutes.” It was that exact moment when you want to give up and call it quits-then you must learn to persevere. That is exactly what we did.

They eventually split us up into two teams, burgundy against blue. We were paired up with a person in our weight class and we put on the gloves. Each fight consisted of three rounds with two minutes each round. You may think that two minutes is not much but in the boxing ring it felt like hours. Those precious few minutes in the ring determines who has learned the most, who has the most perseverance, or who has more heart.
At the end of the week, we all came close together because of the pain we had gone through. After all the adrenaline that had coursed through our bodies, all the sweat that poured down our faces, and all the sore muscles, I learned that these physical aspects are temporary, but the mental lessons I learned from the sport of boxing are lessons I will keep for the rest of my life.

Dear Friends & Families,
I remember as a young child waking up early every Christmas morning to open my gifts. Christmas was probably my favorite time of year. I loved the Christmas story, the snow, all the Christmas candy my mother would make, and most importantly of all, my Christmas gifts. My entire family would exchange gifts each year at Christmas as many others also do the same. The most important thing about Christmas, however, seemed to be so easily forgotten. Who should be the one receiving all the gifts anyways? The answer, of course, is Jesus our Saviour.
Every year at Agapé we like to celebrate the birth of Jesus by giving Him a gift. This year we are taking up an offering on December 22nd and December 25th. We would like to ask if the families and friends of Agapé also would celebrate the birth of our Saviour, Jesus, this year by considering to give a tax-deductible money gift towards His work at Agapé Boarding School. After all, it is His birthday! In previous years we have been able to purchase many new things for our recreation room, theatre room, etc. This year we will be using this fundraiser to purchase more games for the game room. Some of the game tables we are looking at are: new ping-pong tables, air hockey, skee-ball, boxing machine, and other arcades.
We have enclosed a few donation cards to pass out to your friends and family. You can use the enclosed envelope to send back your gift. We are also asking that along with your gift to Jesus, a personalized ornament representing your donation and your loved one also be sent. This ornament will be given to the student to put on our giant Christmas tree. If you have any questions or need more donation cards, please contact me at 417 276-7215.
P.S. You can also donate online at http://www.agapeboardingschool.org/donate
